The project DAYS Workshop held within the European Week of Sport on the 26th of Septemebr 2025 promoting values and benefits of dancing as a tool for health, wellbeing, physical activity, and sport was both engaging and impactful. The Workshop was organized together with the associated partner Latvijas Sporta izglitibas iestazu Direktoru padome. Participants responded positively to the interactive sessions, noting that dancing provided a fun and accessible way to stay active while also boosting mood and social connection. A key strength was the inclusive approach, which encouraged all stakeholders to participate actively by asking questions and involving in discussions. One challenge noted was the limited space for dancing activity, which was one of the energizers. However, it must be emphasized that most of the stakeholders, except those involved in dancing schools or other dancing organizations, had not considered dancing as sport. Yet, having learned the presentation of the DAYS Research Report, most of them agreed that dancing really has the same benefits as other sports like basketball, football, tennis, etc.
Participants of the DAYS Workshop expressed overwhelmingly positive feedback. Many shared that the sessions were energizing, which helped to focus on the topics, while also promoting social interaction and self-expression. Several participants appreciated learning about the broader health benefits of dance, including cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and coordination. One of the suggestions for improvement was to organize follow-up workshops or smaller meetings to maintain the DAYS idea started so successfully. Some stakeholders expressed interest in incorporating dance into their regular health and fitness routines.
The Workshop through the DAYS Dance video successfully highlighted the holistic benefits of dance and left participants motivated to continue exploring it as part of a healthy lifestyle.
There among the Workshop participants were representatives of the Sports Department of the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as representatives from sport clubs, sport schools, sport federations, sport schools’ dance programs, Murjāņi Sports Gymnasium and municipalities, bringing together a total of 138 participants, 4 of which were participants of the project coordinator.
