Young Basketball Players Participate in the Second Challenge of the SPiRC Project

The young basketball players of the Sport School of Limbazi Region are not only ardent fans of their sport, but also willingly engage in other sports activities. This time, basketball aspirants took part in the challenge of the Erasmus+ project “Sport Possibilities in Restriction Periods” organized by the association “BK-95”, in which they had to run a certain segment -distance of 600 m in the territory of lake Lielezers as fast as possible, using the “Strava” application.
Some of the participants had already used the application before, some got to know and tried it with the help of the project team and their coach Kristaps Zalupe, who is also the project’s ambassador. It should be reminded that the goal of the project is to provide sports activities and events, including competition during restrictions periods, maintaining athletes’ motivation to do sports and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The use of digital technologies is one of the tools to implement this.

The guys enjoyed the competitive spirit and the joy of participation, as well as snacks to restore strength after a job well done. Thank you guys for your enthusiasm in the challenge! It is a real pleasure to see that sports are an important and integral part of life for the new generation.

The running segments took place not only in Limbazi, but also in Valmiera and Sigulda, with a total of 111 participants participating in the remote sports activity.
